3 MCs and one DJ

Ch Ch Check it out ! 3 MC’s and one DJ take the stand in Vorst Nationaal.. Beastie Boys are in the country and everyone will know about it. The support act rocked as well.. Maybe not the best rap but very hard beats, excellent skills and the dude knows how to entertain and warm up the crowd. However the main course was ofcourse better. The basic videoscreen behind the support became a multi functional video screen supported by 3 other screens set up around the DJ. Not to mention that Mr Mike was feeling pretty good and showed off some of the best DJ skills I’ve ever witnessed, even getting a special Manneken Pis award in the end. Only downside is that everyone, again, seemed to forget that not everyone in this country speaks french. Grmbl…

Powerball and Limonada

Went over to Gent to pick up my PowerBall Techno… No idea why I got this but I guess it just looks kinda neat. The trip to Gent was concluded with a visit to Limonada. A pretty nifty cocktail drinking hangout, altho for me it still does not beat D’Entreprise in Leuven.

The Incredibles

Hopped over to Kinepolis Leuven this evening for a screening of Pixar’s new movie The Incredibles. I’ve been fond of the Pixar movies since Luxo Junior so this could hardly go wrong for me. The full 2 hours of the movie felt like a perfect mix of an actionhero meets james bond movie. All the vilain’s cool stuff with monorails, rockets and henchmen in pretty cool uniforms that kind of reminded me of robocop. On a technical level this was not as groundbreaking as Finding Nemo but the hair rendering engine has cleary improved when compared to Monsters Inc. Ah yes the hair, its great.. Heh ;-) Not to forget that the storyline, humour etc is excellent as well.. But I took that for a pretty obvious fact.

John Craddock is in da house

Spent the day on a Technet Event with John Craddock. Topics covered were MIIS, Services For Unix 3.5 and ADAM. MIIS surely looked interesting but I dont think it’s really ‘there’ yet. Okay the datapumping is really great but the configuration can go a lot better, as you still need to dive into your .NET code to make manual filters and changes, however he internet is your friend and copy/paste’ing is easy. ADAM (or AD Light) is something else.. Altho the product sure is OK the managability of it all just seems not to speed yet… You just have a couple of command line tools at your disposal or you can open LDP and start swimming (Or get John Craddock’s book). SFU 3.5 was covered with how to add a Linux systep (Suse in this case) to authenticate thru Kerberos (Heimdal implementation) against an Active Directory. The total workload to achieve this is huge, but in the end it’s doable once you get the correct whitepapers and a testlab to get it all debugged.
