RCC 2005

Last weekend it was time for the 2nd Retro Replay Convention, a C64 party held in the German city of Bochum. Last years’ party was more then ok so I was off again, only for 2 days as U2 was playing on friday - one has to put his priorities. Sadly enough I came back home after the first day. Again it was the same stuff that you HAD to compete in whatever funcompo was conceived, even if you didnt wanted to - and, again, the same italian or whatever food it was was ordered as last year and the organizers (well, just one of them who had a slight attitude problem that day) got really annoyed if you didnt eat it. As a conclusion I don’t think I’ll visit that party again next year…

U2 - Vertigo

Bono, The Edge and those 2 other guys that make up U2 kicked off the european part of their Vertigo tour in Brussels a couple of days ago. Not having much trouble for getting a ticket (well, having a good webbrowser helps) and even gotten 2 extra ones because of a mistake at the booking agency the show was on. The concert was held in the Koning Boudewijn stadion at the Heizel in Brussels. Joining up with Duvel well ahead of time in the afternoon I even had a parking spot right in front of the venue - beat that. Spent the afternoon drinking ice tea’s and those things in the Bruparck area when slowly we started walking towards the stadion at the start of the 2nd support act. As things became dark the concert started and after 3/4 songs the huge back wall lit up, acting as a large video screen. Some impressive technology, and its made in belgium.. As is the stage and all that comes with it. After the conert many people complained from bad audio quality but from my point of view (all the way accross the stadion in front of the stage) I had no problems.. Okay you have to take about 1/2 second of audio delay into account at that position but that was about it. And those nagging about the songs that got or got not played, with 20 years of albums under your belt people cannot play every song… live with it.

Top Gear Is Back

I kind of forgot to mention this, but Clarkson & co is back for a new series of TopGear on the good olde BBC. Altho the programme (note, english spelling - harhar) has been getting some comments about only showing the fast and fuel consuming cars, and sometimes a little bit deserved actually, I give a big “WHO CARES” to all those folks… Even if you cant buy the car, at least give us a second to drool about it. But to make a good start the first episode kicked off with a test of the tiny Toyota Aygo aka Peugeot 107 aka Citroen C1 : TopGear style with a huge football (thats soccer for your americanos) game.
